July 29, 2009 Women in Business Sacramento gallery accepts work by Sorch Meek Hood River artist Sorcha Meek’s work “Lovers in the Park” has been accepted into a national juried show, and will be displayedin August at Axis Gallery in Sacramento,Calif. This year’s juror was Janet Bishop, curator from San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. She selected 31 works of painting, sculpture, photography and other media.

In her juror’s statement, Bishop wrote, “The resulting selection ranges from brightly patterned abstractions to new takes on realism; from beautifully constructed sculptural objects to photographs highlighting some of the peculiarities of life now. All of them are works of art that seemed, from their images, to merit our firsthand consideration.” Meek’s limited edition photo is from her “Voyage” series and is available for sale at SOLO studio and gallery, 512 Cascade Ave., Hood River. Hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays noon to 5 p.m., First Fridays 5-8 p.m., and by appointment at 541-490- 7691. A reception for the artists will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 8 at Axis Gallery.
