About the Artist

Sorcha Meek received her B.A. in Visual Communication from CSUC Cum Laude. She went on to study at the Art Institute of Florence, Italy and received a diploma in Fine Art (Painting and Drawing). She has spent considerable periods of her life in Ireland, Italy and Mexico. She now lives in Hood River, Oregon.

Her work is carried by a number of galleries both locally and abroad. (See Resume for details).

Artist Statement

My work is and has always been about concepts or ideas that I am moved to address. Through my ‘series’ or ‘bodies of work’, I am searching for universal truths and timeless knowledge through everyday life.

Much of my inspiration comes from living, from seeking out new experiences through travel, nature and books. It also comes from relationships with people and places.

I am deeply drawn to color and texture. They draw one’s attention to the present and create a greater awareness of the world around us.

I value the inherent beauty and wisdom that reveals itself in something that has experienced and endured the patina of time.
